Import External Data into NetGarment
Posted Wed, 05/27/2009 - 18:03 by wu.ben
Use NetGarment Import to raise data utilization rate and data input speed. With the help of predefined Excel templates (located at directory "...\netgmt\template", click to view the list), or other standardized user-defined Excel templates (made by customizing the predefined Excel templates, click to know how), you can conveniently import existing external data in .xls or .xml file into NetGarment.
The "Import" command at "File" menu of NetGarment main window can help you to handle all file import operation in an integrated way.

First time trying NetGarment import? You could follow our step-by-step guide:
Take NetGarment "Shipping" document type for example
1. At the interface of NetGarment "Shipping" document type, click "Import/Export" button on its toolbar, select “Excel Template: Shipping.xls” in the drop-down menu, which will open the predefined Excel template file "Shipping.xls (read-only)" located at directory "...\netgmt\template".

Note: a single template file divides into different language versions. If your NetGarment is in Traditional Chinese, "Excel Template: Shipping_hk.xls" will be displayed in the drop-down menu of "Import/Export" button. Or if you are using the Chinese simplified version, you'll be presented with the "Excel Template: Shipping_cn.xls" template file. All predefined template files can be found at directory "...\netgmt\template".
As shown in the above picture, the 2nd line is about program identifiers. The 3rd line is title line composed of field names. The 4th line and lines under are for data input. According to floating needs and preferences, you can not only delete unnecessary columns, make casual adjustment to columns sequence, but change field names or customize your own cell formats.
You can save the adjusted template as a new temple file. This is a cozy approach for you to make standardized custom-made Excel template.
2. Save the template file as a new file for data input (for example, we name it "Shipping_data.xls").
Tips for data input (download example files):

3. Save "Shipping_data" on completion of data input, then activate "Shipping" document type window, click "Import/Export" button on its toolbar, select "Import Shipping: Standard", find "Shipping_data" and double-click its file icon, which will open the following dialog box

Click "OK", after a while, your import of external data will be done
Additionally, when finish importing, NetGarment will also send you a log file briefly reporting the import info.
